Help Redhead Express Go Platinum!

Home

“Home, they got bacon fryin’, home, and there’s no denying, where I wanna be!”

Kendra wrote that song not long after we moved into our little farm house on the hill and I couldn’t choose better words to speak my mind right now.

We had a great weekend in Missouri though.

Among the three shows we did over the weekend was one that we’ve actually done for three years in a row, at Bobby Powell’s Arcadia Valley Jamboree, in Ironton, MO. It’s more or less the only Christmas show we do every year and the only show where we get to be in a parade. Each year before the show, the city of Ironton has a Christmas parade. The Redhead Express, bass and all, get to climb up onto the bed of a flatbed trailer, fully equipped with a sound system, and play music in the parade! We lucked out this year because someone must have ordered nice weather. In both the past two years we’ve done the parade it’s been snowing, which resulted in dry throats and numb fingers…not a good combination when you’re an entertainer.

The show was so much fun, but what made the evening extra special was seeing all of our old time friends and fans as well as making new ones.

Even though we did have an awesome weekend, there’s just something about going home… maybe because I’m getting in the mood for baking (which is a little hard to do in a 15 passenger van) or because I know there’s a big comfy bed waiting for me, or maybe simply because we finally have a home and I want to enjoy it while I can…

Whatever the reason, I do know, “That’s where I wanna be!”
