Help Redhead Express Go Platinum!

Chocolate, chocolate, and more…chocolate!

We started a new Christmas tradition in the Walker family home last year; we stuffed our stockings with homemade candies! As our close friends know, though, no one in the Walker clan is a big fan of your “normal” candies, we like chocolate…dark chocolate. You only need so much dark chocolate at a time, so here’s our two favorite chocolate candies that we made this year:

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (You can’t go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter)…Mmm!

Fall Colors in Wisconsin

I love the fall.  I love the cool, crisp air, fresh apples and pears, and the colors of the changing leaves.  So beautiful!  We have been in Wisconsin this week, my home stomping grounds.  Three shows in Tomah, Medford and Park Falls.  The farther north we travel, the richer, more vibrant the color palate becomes.  Here are just a few photos of the coloring we saw.  I just love the red vines on this old gas station we saw in Poplar.

It has been an AWESOME weekend! Beautiful, clear skies with cooler temperatures, walks along the New River, LOTS of fresh fruits and veggies, and a few big wins. Our first big win was a sold out crowd at the Rex Theater Friday night. Over 400 people showed up to see us kick off the week long 75th Anniversary of the Galax Fiddle Festival. The next big win was our taping of the PBS Special, Song of the Mountains. We opened for the legendary Stoneman sisters. That special will air sometime next spring. The third big win was tonight. Our boys REALLY wanted to compete in the youth bluegrass band competition, so we stayed an extra day for the competitions. They needed a fiddle and guitar player, so they joined forces this afternoon with the Larkey kids of Johnson City, TN and Carson Peters- an amazing 6 yr. old fiddler from Piney Flats. These kids got together and worked up 2 songs, practiced a little, and took 2nd place! What a great way to end our weekend- a grand slam![/caption]
